Lost Zombies

June 17, 2009

I heard about Lost Zombies on the Bloody Disgusting podcast a while back. Lost Zombies is an awesome social network that has a focused goal. The goal is to aggrigate various media such as video, audio, writing, and drawing into fake documentary about surviving a Zombie apocalypse. If you like Zombies and want to contribute to a great idea and possibly part of a film maybe you should give Lost Zombies a try.

Dollhouse

June 16, 2009

So yesterday I said I was going to combine talking about this show with Fringe, but I decided it was too good to not have it’s own entry. When I first saw Dollhouse I thought it was a fantastic disaster. I was expecting some sort of like super spy group that tears things up, eventually I got that and much more. You have to put in a little effort for this show unlike all of the other awesome Joss Whedon shows out there. I knew I could trust Whedon though so I kept tuning in and after I watched the first four episodes it started getting real good. You find out that they are storing people’s memories on hard drives and swapping those memories with ones where the people called Dolls can perform specific tasks some of the tasks involving a great deal of action which is what I was expecting. The more the show goes on the more you find out that there’s Dollhouse operations all over the world and The Dollhouse has it’s hooks in almost every aspect of our daily lives. Then it spirals out into some viral stuff about how anyone could be a Doll from the Dollhouse. I could be one you could be one, heck everyone could be one and there could be just one free puppet master! Who knows! That’s what’s great about Dollhouse, it’s one of those how far down the rabbit hole do you have to go type of things. It ended great with a rogue doll on the loose and the FBI agent trying to take down the Dollhouse actually joining The Dollhouse. I was afraid they weren’t going to renew it for next year especially since I found out Fox canned Terminator which I’m still pretty bitter about, but it looks like it’s coming back unlike Firefly which I’m also bitter about. So we’ll see where it goes from here. I’m sure it’s going to be good since Joss Whedon is driving the train.

Fringe

June 15, 2009

I wwas originally going to do a post combining how bad I thought Fringe was with how good I thought Dollhouse was, but i decided to split them up since I have big opinions on both I guess. So the thing about Fringe is I stopped watching it the day The girl FBI agent was interrogating that dude whose life she saved by pulling the worm off of his heart. She gets him to give up the info by telling him she killed his wife. What!?!? That’s totally illogical. I mean if someone told you they just shot your wife in the face would you spill the beans. I wouldn’t I would have tried to tear them apart. They should have done it like in Sons Of Anarchy when they had a similar scene and the dude from Sons smashed the interrogator’s face into the table like fifty times until he got what he wanted. Then I realized that’s my problem with Fringe. If you’re going to have a team show you need to copy a classic that’s all there is to it and the classic that needs to be copied is the A-Team. You have the FBI agent’s which is clearly like Hannibal Smith. She tells people what to do and they do it. She has a plan. Then you have the crazy doctor who’s just like Murdock. Then you have his son who’s like The Faceman. He can smooth talk people and get things done. It’s already established that he can do this too. Then you have the lab assistant who’s totally useless. This is the key to the whole thing. They need to replace this character with a B.A. Baracus. They need muscle on the team that can smash people’s faces and get things done that The Faceman or the other characters can’t. You can’t have the FBI girl be both Hannibal and B.A. it just seems weird. She’s not a face Smasher she’s a planner. There’s some awesome stuff about Fringe like the dude that teleported from Germany to the U.S. and the bald dude that can read minds and is really weird and the doctor is awesome. But I still think they need the muscle otherwise the team seems incomplete to me.

Acquired

June 13, 2009

TNA has some excellent new acquisitions since their last Pay Per View which makes the show even more exciting to watch these days. There’s Amazing Red who I’m not too familiar with. Then there’s Christopher Daniels who never really went away since he was Curry Man and sometimes Suicide. Then there’s The Franchise Shane Douglas. I never saw him in TNA when he was there before, but I remember him as the TV Champ in ECW. Those were good times. Finally, the best acquisition they got in my opinion is Raven. I’m a big fan of Raven in every promotion he’s been in. I especially remember his Heavy Weight championship run in ECW and him teaming up with The Insane Clown Posse and Vampiro in WCW as The Dead Pool. That was fantastic. I also always thought it was cool how he wore Sandman comic book shirts. I think he’s a big comic book fan and even wrote a forward in one of the Sandman collections. Anyway, TNA is going to better than ever this year. I just know it!

Eels, Hombre Lobo

June 8, 2009

The same day I got the new Rancid I also got the new Eels Hombre Lobo from Amazon. The last Eels I got was Shootenanny. I never got Blinking Lights because I didn’t know about it, but I’ll get it some time soon. Anyway, the last one I have to compare Hombre Lobo to is Shootenanny so I’ll do that for now. While Shotenanny is pretty sad at times Hombre Lobo is a lot lighter and more hopeful. Some of my favorite songs are Prize Fighter, All The Beautiful Things, Fresh Blood, and Beginners Luck. I don’t really know how to describe Eels music. I guess it’s kind of Fuzzy, Lo-Fi, blues. You really have to hear a lot of it to get a good idea of E’s music. If you’re an Eels fan you probably already have this. If you’re not an Eels fan. maybe you should start with this one then get the first one then dig into to the middle to get the full scope of what Eels do.

New Rancid

June 5, 2009

I got the new Rancid from Amazon yesterday. I read some reviews that it was as good as Out Come The Wolves, but I don’t think so. Out Come The Wolves is one of my all time favorite albums. It’s super powerful, and I don’t think it can be either replicated or beaten, but I don’t know. I’m totally biased about it since that album has a ton of good memories connected to it for me. Anyway, the new Rancid, Let The Dominoes Fall is good so don’t get me wrong. Out of the nineteen songs I really liked like twelve or so. My most favorites are Disconnected, East Bay Night, L.A. River, Last One To Die, and This Place. It’s got a lot of songs dealing with America, Liberty, and the war and a positive songs about the soldiers. If you’re a Rancid fan you should already have this album it’s a no-brainer. If you’re not a Rancid fan I’d still say if you wanted to get into Rancid then Out Come The Wolves first. Then get Let’s Go. Then you can get this one and all the other ones.

Skate Farm

June 4, 2009

I just got done reading my buddy Barzak’s awesome comic series called Skate Farm which is about a group of skaters who stumble upon a set of high tech skateboards designed by aliens. The problem is everyone wants the skateboards and that’s where the story begins! Skate Farm is filled with awesome drawings, some hilarious dialogue, and great pop culture references. Every time I read it I see a pop culture reference I had missed before and laugh out loud again. If you’re looking for some fun great comics to read go read Skate Farm. I got it from Amazon, but you can get it from the site or at your local comics retailer and if you dig it pass a note on to Barzak I’m sure he’d like to hear from you.

Atomsplit

June 2, 2009

If you’re stumbling across this page for the first time you’re probably wondering what is Atomsplit all about. Well, Atomsplit is a cartoon, comic strip, game, and general multimedia story about an indie rock band who comes into contact with and old school rocker named Bobby Vandertramp who trains the young indie rockers to create and control the Divine Sound, a sound so strong and powerful it can do anything. However, there are some folks who don’t want Atomsplit to have access to such a powerful sound, namely, the recording corporation and they’re representative Mr. Peevil. It’s up to Atomsplit to perfect the Divine Sound and share it with the world while at the same time staying one step ahead of the music companies and Mr. Peevil. Atomsplit, the game, the animation, and the comics in production now and I hope all you future Atomsplitters will enjoy it when it launches.

Atomsplit’s Progress

May 30, 2009

The progress for Atomsplit is coming along really well. Doug is cooking up an awesome site for the webcomic that will replace this one. The rough  animations are almost all done and once they’re complete they need to be polished and tweaked and music needs to be put in and once that’s done they’ll be ready for your purchasing pleasure, but remember the webcomic will always be free and I’ve got several webcomics done and ready to go for when the new site hits the interwebs. So once those to things are out and about Atomsplit will get right back in the lab because we still have several things to do for the amusement of you Atomsplitters like the game, T-Shirts, and physical books that you can read at your leisure anytime you like. So stay tuned here Atomsplitters for the beginning of it all with the exciting new site coming right around the corner.
