Atomsplit

July 10, 2009

If you’re stumbling across this page for the first time you’re probably wondering what is Atomsplit all about. Well, Atomsplit is a cartoon, comic strip, game, and general multimedia story about an indie rock band who comes into contact with and old school rocker named Bobby Vandertramp who trains the young indie rockers to create and control the Divine Sound, a sound so strong and powerful it can do anything. However, there are some folks who don’t want Atomsplit to have access to such a powerful sound, namely, the recording corporation and they’re representative Mr. Peevil. It’s up to Atomsplit to perfect the Divine Sound and share it with the world while at the same time staying one step ahead of the music companies and Mr. Peevil. Atomsplit, the game, the animation, and the comics in production now and I hope all you future Atomsplitters will enjoy it when it launches.

IE 8 Feeds 8 People

July 9, 2009

If you want Internet Explorer 8 you can download it from the  regular site or you can download it from this site. If you download it from that site then with each click you automatically feed eight hungry people in America. That rules!!! I have two computers and downloaded it twice and fed sixteen people. The meals could add up fast depending on how many computers you had and the friends you know and their computers and the friends they know and their computers and on and on! Even if you use Firefox and just want the latest IE or whatever it still counts. Plus there’s absolutely no extra effort in downloading it from that site as opposed to the regular site. So why not right? You get IE 8, people get to eat at least once and everybody wins.

Maxim Pt. 2

July 8, 2009

So I started getting Maxim in the mail and I got three in a row. Everybody knows what Maxim’s all about so I won’t get into any of that and anything you can get in Maxim you can get on the internet. But then I noticed Maxim had a lot of articles about the internet like a good one on pranking and stuff like that. Then I saw the awesomest article ever about The Year Of Led Zeppelin! The Year of Led Zeppelin is a blog where the author spent a year listening to Led Zeppelin live shows and stuff he found on the internet, aggregating them, and finally listing the fifty best ones around. If you think about it that’s really epic! I never thought about looking for that stuff before on the internet either. Every time I go into my local Subway the lady up there ribs me for wearing my Zep shirt. She’s all like you’re too young to wear that shirt. Then she’s like I saw them you know, in ‘77 and I was like dang I was born in ‘77 and I always thought how great it would have been to see them at the Omni in ‘77. Well, Zep’s not around anymore really, the Omni is torn down, and it’s physically impossible to see them in in “77 at the Omni, but through the magic of the interwebs I can actually hear it if I wanted to!!!

Maxim Pt. 1

July 7, 2009

I don’t usually talk about world views and stuff like that here because it can get a lot of people angry. In fact something made me angry which is the whole point of this post. See, I used to subscribe to Electronic Gaming Monthly, but then they ran an article about video game villains and singled out Andrew Ryan from Bioshock. The first thing to note is Ryan isn’t even the main villain in that game. The second thing I took note of was how then went on and on about how evil Ryan’s view of capitalism, dog eat dog competitiveness and free market economics were. They even cited how evil Ayn Rand was since her book Atlas Shrugged was an influence on Ryan and Bioshock as a whole. Well, I happen to be a fan of Rand’s and that was the straw that broke the camel’s back with my relationship and subscription to EGM. I called them up and told them I wanted to cancel my subscription. They told me I had eight dollars or three magazines left so I told them I’d take the three magazines. The next month EGM went out of business so I lost my eight bucks and three magazines, but it seemed quite ironic to me that that happened to them right after they wrote that article about how evil free market economics were so I didn’t mind eating the eight bucks so much. I should also note that the views of that one writer might not reflect the views of everyone at the magazine, but still it angered me enough to cancel my subscription and in so doing help author the demise of the magazine as a whole. So I was out eight bucks or three magazines and several months passed and I almost completely forgot about the entire incident. Then this Maxim showed up in my mail box as a way of honoring the three magazines I had left. Tomorrow: Maxim Pt. 2

Prince Caspian

July 1, 2009

Around the same time I saw Terminator I also saw Prince Caspian. I’m a big fan of the Narnia books and the movies are awesome so far. Although I don’t see how they are going to be able to make all of them since some of them can be a little politically incorrect in todays geopolitical climate, but I hope they do. Anyway, It seems while The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe made around 700 million dollars Caspian only made 400 million and that didn’t suit Disney so they dropped the series. It was partly my fault since I was waiting to watch it on DVD and then didn’t get it until way after it came out. I’ll have to correct that mistake when Voyage Of The Dawn Treader comes out in 2010. Prince Caspian is the second written book in the Narnia series, but fourth in Narnian chronological order. I wished they’d have done them in that order, but not as many people know about The Magicians Nephew as they do The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe so I guess they figured they’d start where C.S. Lewis started. Prince Caspian starts hundreds of years after Wardrobe and Narnia has fallen into ruin as a race of men has come into the land and subjugated and killed many of the Narnians like the talking animals, fauns, and dwarves. Prince Caspian was one of those people, but he wasn’t a bad guy at heart and so through a series of events he ends up fighting with the Narnians against his own people. They added a lot of extra stuff that wasn’t in the books and more battles which is always good so if you haven’t had a chance to see Prince Caspian you should check it out. Even if you’re not a fan of Narnia you might still like it anyway.

Terminator Salvation

June 29, 2009

It was only a matter of time before I saw Terminator Salvation. If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you’d know it wasn’t something I was going to miss since I’m a big fan of the franchise, even the TV show. Terminator Salvation was what they invented the word awesome for. I was talking to my friend afterwards and I was like remember that part that was totally awesome and he was like which one and I was like the whole thing and he was like heck yeah!!! That’s how awesome it is. Without giving too much away it’s about John Conner starting to lead the resistance soon after Judgement Day. So he’s not in full command yet and he’s got a long road to go before he beats the machines and that’s the whole point. McG wants this to be the start of a wwhole new series taking place in the future where John Conner finally beats the machines in the end. That would be great. I hear they plan to do at least two more and I hope the plan becomes a reality and they do!

Down The Rabbit Hole

June 25, 2009

Going down the rabbit hole on You Tube can be awesomely rewarding sometimes and then quite frightening at others. I’m sure anyone who’s spent anytime there knows what I mean after clicking through several related videos. Well, my last trip down the rabbit hole was really sweet it all started when I was looking at one video which took me to a Dropkick Murphys cover of The Who’s Baba O’Riley very nice!!! This lead to another DKM cover of Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater Revival! That lead me to yet another DKM cover and this time it was AC/DC’s Longway To The Top If You Want To Rock ‘N’ Roll. That lead me to a Motorhead cover of the same song and then a Billy Corgan cover of the same song. The trail finally ended with AC/DC’s new video Rock “N” Roll train, but it was a good trip while it lasted. I was able to get the two DKM covers from an album on Amazon, but not the Baba O’ Riley one. I hope they put that one out sometime.

Axmen Again

June 24, 2009

This years Axmen was even better than last years. I wonder what happened to Stump Branch. I guess they didn’t want to be on the show this year and neither did Gufstason, but it dosen’t look like they’ve gone out of business since they both have sites up and running on the interwebs. So who came back? Phil came back they were pretty good there was a lot of in crew fighting, but I think they did OK and stayed in business another year. Dwayne is one of my favorites on that show. Browning was as great as ever, but they were beatenthis year in load counts by Rygaard Logging. Rygaard was interesting because they were way smaller than Browning kind of like Stump Branch, but they just did beat Browning in the loads. They had a new guy working on their crew who they seemed to push really hard so he ended up quitting. Then they got a new guy who they didn’t seem to push so hard and he ended up staying. Maybe they didn’t push him as much because he was better at logging. Nevertheless they were this years winners. Then there was R&R Conner aviation. It was awesome to see how they attached trees to a helicopter and flew them out of the forest and onto the landing. They had some personnel problems to and had to let a pilot go, but they got another one and ended up doing OK. Then there was S&S Aqua Logging. The owner of  S&S would yell and curse about everything even if you were doing a good job he would yell and curse at you about what a good job you were doing. I don’t think i could work for a guy like that. What’s interesting though is that they would dive for logs in the river called dead heads. The logs would have been sitting in the river for years so they’d be naturally cured. They’d take the logs and make custom furniture out of them and sell them for a heap of money. So all in all it was a better season this year than last year with a lot of different types of logging. I can’t wait to see what they’re going to have next year.
